PRESIDENT'S  MESSAGE

Experience is a great teacher.  One of the things I like about the club is going to events and field trips with members.  By sharing the experience and then talking about it and seeing what others choose to photograph and their images is always enlightening.

We had a great time at the Marshmallow Drop and then met for lunch and discussed what we had seen, what equipment we used and the people we saw.  You will see some of those photos here in the newsletter and please check out all of the "keepers" on Zenfolio

We enjoyed perfect weather during our field trip to the Vintage Garden Art Show in Mount Dora. Field trips always seem to come with added bonuses in addition to the opportunity to take photos.  Whether it's finding the perfect holiday gag gift for the family, hidden newsletter chickens, something to help your TV reception, another collectible for your home or my favorite non-photography activity, petting dogs. There are always added perks to these expeditions.

After an excellent lunch and conversation in Mount Dora (you knew there would be food involved somewhere), some of us decided to walk down to the lake.  As they say, the rest is history. Three of us saw a sign and decided on the spur of the moment to take a sea plane tour of the area.  My photo was taken during that flight with my iPhone.  It was a great day filled with friends and photography.  Please come to an event or field trip, have some fun, and share an experience with us.  My challenge this time is to bring a photo that shows something you did on the weekend.

PS.  Please bring your camera to the next meeting.

MEETING - APRIL 18 - PHOTO REVIEW
What were they thinking

Our next meeting April 18th is our photo review.
Bring 5 - 7 taken at recent events or any other photos you want to show off.  Also include "Susan's Challenge" photos.

As usual, bring your photos on a thumb drive that contains only those photos or a folder with only those photos in it to make it easy for our projectionist.

If you would like to pre-submit your photos by email, send them to:

PS. Please bring your cameras to the meeting.
VOLUNTEERS
WHY VOLUNTEER?

Volunteering is a two-way street; it does much more than just support our club.

OPC volunteers have the unique opportunity to go behind the scene and participate in and photograph events from vantage points not open to the public. Event Photography is an opportunity to learn from each other while trying something new, having some fun, and acquiring some new skills.

Our meeting place is provided, at no cost, by Oviedo Recreation and Parks in return for the events we cover for them.   We also provide photography services to local nonprofit organizations that support and promote our club.  The pictures we provide are used in print and on the internet with the byline "Courtesy of the Oviedo Photo Club" giving us publicity we could never buy.

Why volunteer? It's a win-win situation for everyone.

The coming events for which volunteers will be needed are:

Sat. April 23, 7pm - 9pm.                St. Luke's Concert Series:
Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra

Fri. April 29, 11am - 3pm.               7th Annual Relay for Life Charity Golf Outing
Twin Rivers Golf Club, Oviedo

Sat. May 28, 7:30am - 10am            Oviedo Memorial 5K & Kids Fun Run
Oviedo Recreation & Parks event

Mon. May 30, 9am - 10am               Memorial Day Ceremory at Veteran Tribute
Oviedo on the Park

Click on the RSVP for the events you would like to volunteer for
so that we will know we have coverage at the event.

Photos of the above events should be uploaded to your personal Zenfolio site and then copied to the appropriate event gallery.   Our website will have links to the appropriate gallery.
